Prime Minister Thanks Diaspora Members for Support

Expressing profound appreciation for the support of Jamaicans living overseas, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has lauded the Diaspora Education Taskforce and the hospital liaisons for their sterling contributions of approximately US$10 million to Jamaica over the last three years. Prime Minister Simpson Miller was delivering the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 6th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference in Rose Hall, Montego Bay recently. The Prime Minister also noted that she was fully aware and grateful for the sacrifices that many Jamaicans who live
abroad sometimes make in order to aid family members living in Jamaica. The Conference was held June 13-18 under the theme 'Jamaica and the Diaspora: Linking for Growth and Prosperity'.
